Football Mania Live 2023 – Event Update Statement

 

Following the cancellation of our inaugural Football Mania Live event in August 2023 we would like to clarify some aspects of the circumstances leading to the event being cancelled;

 

The Football Mania Live event has been in the planning process since early 2022, many venues were considered for the first event eventually settling on the London venue at Magazine, London which was secured and  booked for the August event back in January 2023. The FML team went on to secure and book the exhibits, features and talent for the FML event. To promote the event we invested in a substantial marketing campaign across all our social media platforms also supported by a regional radio advertising campaign.

 

In the months leading up to our FML event a number of challenges, logistical planning issues combined with a number of other large events taking place over the same weekend caused us to revisit and reconsider the timing of the event which led originally to postponing to May 2024 but before we could formalise the date change we received a lot of negative feedback to the event postponement which ultimately caused us to make the difficult decision to cancel the event entirely despite the months of hard work, planning and financial commitment .

 

During the process of cancelling the event the FML team have tried to ensure all ticket holders had been contacted by email but we are aware that some people may not have received our emails and could have missed our social media and website updates for which we can only apologise but we assure every effort was made to ensure everyone had prior notice of the event cancellation. We are now in the process of issuing refunds to ticket holders, a situation we did not expect to find ourselves in, this is a difficult and time consuming process so we ask you to bear with us as we work through this period.

 

Anyone who purchased tickets through Groupon should contact Groupon directly for refunds as we are not able to process these ourselves, you can contact them via this email: sm.support@groupon.co.uk

 

Now, moving forward, due to the nature of some of the comments and messages being received on our social media channels in reaction to the event cancellation and the refunds process we will be taking our social media channels offline with immediate effect for a period of time while we work through the refunds process. Please note we will not respond to any abusive or threatening messages and these will be reported to the authorities. Our website will remain live so that we can continue to provide information and updates.
